Nida Anjum Chelat -Youngest Equestrian in the world to complete the Endurance
World Championship for seniors
Background
Endurance riding is a sport traditionally dominated by nations with centuries-old equestrian legacies. In this highly competitive global arena, 22-year-old Indian equestrian Nida Anjum Chelat from Tirur, Kerala, made history by becoming the first Indian to complete the FEI Endurance World Championship for Seniors.
This was not a one-off breakthrough. It marked the continuation of a trajectory of excellence that began with her standout performance at the 2023 FEI Junior Championship, signaling her arrival as a serious contender on the world stage.
Despite the prestige of the FEI World Endurance Championships, the sport itself remains largely invisible to mainstream Indian audiences. While cricket, football, and athletics dominate headlines, endurance equestrianism rarely enters public conversation. As a result, achievements of global significance often pass unnoticed.
PR 360 stepped in to bridge this gap and build a new connection between endurance riding and India. The challenge was layered and demanding. We had to introduce an unfamiliar sport, explain its significance, convey the physical and mental rigour required, and establish why this achievement mattered not just internationally but also nationally. At the same time, we needed to position Nida not merely as a participant but as a pioneer rewriting India’s sporting narrative on a global platform.
Silence was not an option. This was a moment of national sporting history, and our task was to ensure it was seen, understood, and remembered.
Solution
We positioned Nida not just as an athlete with a win, but as the face of a sporting future India is yet to fully discover. Through focused press outreach, we made her name synonymous with India’s breakthrough in equestrian endurance.
Since endurance riding is largely unfamiliar in India, our communication was built as storytelling rather than announcements. Each release explained the prestige of the World Endurance Championship and the significance of an Indian equestrian completing it. Strategic interviews and features placed Nida firmly within national and international sports conversations, opening doors to panels and platforms where Indian equestrians had rarely been represented.
This effort went beyond celebrating a single achievement. It redirected attention toward a sport that deserves recognition. Major national publications spotlighted Nida’s journey, positioning her as a symbol of India’s endurance on the global stage.
We didn’t just support an athlete. We helped introduce India to a new chapter of sporting ambition, one that began in a small town in Kerala and carried itself to one of the world’s toughest equestrian championships.
